Winning Federal Innovation Grants: From Idea to Award

Federal innovation programs such as SBIR and STTR provide billions in non-dilutive funding each year to small businesses to support research and development. For companies, these programs can accelerate validation, customer engagement, and commercialization. This session will provide a brief overview of The Nucleus Institute and Utah’s innovation ecosystem, along with updates on SBIR/STTR and other key federal funding opportunities. Attendees will gain insight into how to evaluate agency fit, structure a competitive strategy, and position their technology for long-term transition and growth. The discussion will conclude with an open Q&A focused on practical guidance for companies ready to move from idea to award.

Economic Impact of Utah's Military and Defense Industry

This briefing will provide a summary of the results of the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute's most recent study of the economic impact of the military and defense sector on the state of Utah's economy in terms of employment, personal income and gross domestic product. The Utah Defense Alliance contracts with the Institute through Utah's Department of Veterans and Military Affairs every three years to conduct this study.
