Winning an SBIR or STTR award is only the beginning. Transitioning technology requires strong academic partnerships, alignment with mission priorities, and a clear acquisition strategy. This session will begin with a discussion on collaborating with universities through SBIR and STTR, highlighting the advantages of academic partnerships, common tradeoffs, and when those relationships can strengthen technical competitiveness. It will then examine how the Department of War is structured, how companies can identify customers and align with mission needs, and how programs such as xTech, APFIT, and DIU support innovation and transition.
